A condensate dry trap is an essential component in the installation of all BEAM Counterflow MVHR units.
The condensate drain prevents moisture build-up in the MVHR system. If moisture is present in the system, it can reduce the efficiency and can damage components. Moisture can also lead to mould growth which can affect indoor air quality.
The condensate drain should be fitted and connected to the dwellings internal foul water drainage system in accordance with the relevant building regulations.
If the ventilation unit is located in a cold space (i.e. the loft) the condensate dry trap must be sufficiently insulated.
